The bicyclist was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

CBS2 News reported that the driver turned himself in about an hour after the crash. City News Service identified the man as Jason Travers, 34, of Monrovia. He was booked on suspicion felony hit and run; his bail was set at $50,000, CNS reported.

Police received the call at 5:42 p.m. Head did not know where the driver was arrested following the collision and did not provide specifics on the circumstances of the incident.

Justin Chapman, a friend of the victim and a Patch contributor, identified the bicyclist as Paul Tetu. He said Tetu was struck from behind and doesn't remember the accident.

"He's OK, no broken bones or anything, but he's pretty banged up. He hit his head and doesn't remember anything," Chapman wrote in an email. "He got hit from behind and the vehicle took off."
