Flash Flood and Debris Flow Warning In Effect

Be alert, particularly in recovering burn areas, Saturday night through Sunday night as rainfall will be rapid and heavy throughout San Gabriel Valley and Los Angeles County.

As the skies begin to pour once again, the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning Saturday night through Sunday night, with heavy rains expected throughout Los Angeles County Sunday afternoon; at the peak of the storm, there will be between one half and one inch of rainfall per hour. Due to this rapid rate of rainfall, flash flood and debris flow warnings are in effect in recent burn areas. All of Los Angeles County and San Gabriel Valley are asked to be on alert.

The National Weather Service asks that "residents in or below the recently burned areas [...] take the steps necessary to protect their property," while remaining alert and "following the directions of emergency preparedness officials."

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works has also issued a debris and mudflow forecast. La Crescenta-Montrose, La Canada Flintridge and Sierra Madre are all at a phase 1 warning, meaning "small isolated debris and mudflows [are] possible" and that "streeets may be flooded or blocked by debris [...] Few, if any, structures will be endangered."
