The Giant Pile of Free Mulch is Back
Plenty of windstorm generated mulch is available again at Recreation Park for the next three Saturdays.
The city has unloaded tons of mulch, but December's windstorm generated the gift that keeps on giving, mulch-wise.
Monrovia is extending its free mulch giveaway every remaining Saturday this month. The mulch can be picked up at Recreation Park from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Feb. 11, Feb. 18, and Feb. 25.
"Recent windstorms generated lots of mulch from downed trees and limbs. Help us to keep this material out of landfills by using the mulch locally," reads a flyer for the event.
Shovels, gloves, bags and goggles are not provided so bring your own.
Editor's note: The pitchfork is the best implement for scooping up mulch and far superior to the shovel.
