Monrovia Police to Hold 'National Night Out' Next Month

The city will participate in the annual nationwide campaign to raise crime prevention awareness on Aug. 2.

Monrovians are asked to join 34 million expected participants nationwide in the National Night Out Against Crime event next month designed to raise awareness of crime and drug prevention efforts.

Slated for Aug. 2, the National Night Out will last from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Library Park and will include live music, food, police demonstrations and information on crime prevention.

The Monrovia Police Department hopes the event will "send a message to criminals, letting them know that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back," according to a letter written by Interim Police Chief Jim Hunt to neighborhood watch captains.
