Photos: Monrovia's Windy Aftermath

Trees crushed cars and blocked off streets after high winds caused widespread damage to the city Thursday.

Stella Thorn didn't know a palm tree landed on her car until police came to her front door Thursday morning.

The resident of the 300 block of West Palm Avenue was on the phone with her insurance company Thursday after a tree crushed the back of her Honda Civic and blocked off the whole street.

Trees were uprooted throughout the city by throughout the city. The city's holiday tree in , already strewn with Christmas lights, was supposed to be lit up Thursday night, but the winds knocked it right over.

Thorn said city workers told her they would remove the tree that landed on her car, but she didn't know when.

"They said they'll get to mine eventually," she said.
