How sad for the dog's family. We get downhill racers up here on Norumbega, too, especially afterRead Moreda rk. I always wince for the few seconds it takes them to get to the 90 degree turn about a block away - and hope and pray that there's no human or animal in street. Some people seem to think that curves put them at Le Mons and straight-a-ways put them on the track at Indianapolis.

perhaps the shud put up those speed bumps like the ones on Orange just West of the DuarteRead Morewalking/bi ke trail by Santa Terresita Hosp.,, there are sadly soo many drivers that don't realize what a speed limit is,, maybe the speed bumps would help slow them down,, they can be tough on ur car if you go too fast... j.s.~

I second Ellen about the racing on Norumbega. I sometimes question even parking along the streetRead Morebec ause I worry that the possibility of hitting my car and taking off is higher than average. So sad for this person.

I've been wondering about that,too.

Some employees work on their own time and are paid by the party they work for. Hopefully, this isRead Moret he case in this instance. Besides being a gross misuse of city employees' time and the city's money, it's insulting to residents to think that they did this work during their city working hours.

Chris, the issue is being called a Land Grab due 2 the fact that Chu was comming 4 Our Hillsides, and Read Morebringing no cash 2 the table. There is no restriction on access at all. What you state is misinformation. 2 friends I know hiked last week and came across 2 young cubs, mama bear not 2 far behind. Seems they had full access in and full and fast as they could, full access out.
Gracie Grey July 20, 2014 at 06:23 AM
Mr. Adams, Can you please let me know at what City Council meetings, prior to 4/1/14 was the NRARead Morespok en about. On 4/15/14 Lutz's language is very convoluted. No mention of Our Hillsides being in jeopardy. It must be noted at the meeting Gloria Crudgington, receives an award 4 her contribution for saving Our Hillsides. What rises 2 reasonable expectation of true full disclosure.I receive a city notification if a neighbor does a remodel or adds a pool 3 blocks away. Lutz was sneaky, down and dirty did the City of Monrovia no good in her dealings with Chu. Lutz did a Tonya Harding on Our Hillsides. WORST MAYOR MONROVIA HAS HAD....Mary Ann Lutz. The sad issue is Lutz thinks she did nothing wrong. At this late date an apology from Lutz will fall on deaf ears. Lutz did wrong by piggybacking Chu. I've heard buzz Lutz is being referred as a Climber, Monrovia is her stepping stone.
Tom Adams July 20, 2014 at 01:11 PM
Chris Griffin, I am just as disappointed as anyone over our slow opening of the WildernessRead MorePreserve. All of the access points are open BUT the one at Cloverleaf. As you may recall, there were two lawsuits filed but we are now very close to closing the gap for legal access there, a matter of gaining a wider easement over the road. As for who is better, local control is always better.

It pays to drive slowly in residential areas. I do not ever want to hit anything living or parked..
Ellen Zunino July 21, 2014 at 05:22 PM
And a lot of pets and wildlife will pop out between bushes following paths they've created. I'veRead Morest opped for and sometimes parked and moved snakes that are in the road. Lately, drivers seem to have blinders on. If they don't see - or care about - hitting animals, I imagine they are not thinking about the possibility of hitting our kids. And the worse offenders are the workmen in their pickups racing up and down to and from jobs.

I see Arcadia , so El Monte and unincorporated parts of El Monte but no mention of monrovia....

And the little event of four of our own needing rescue (now dead) but Obama ordered a stand downRead Moreand did not even stay up to monitor the situation as he had to get some sleep and be fresh for a money making party in Las Vegas the next day. Of course any action would have gone against his claim weeks before that he had decimated Al Quada. You would think that he would have taken extra precaution and increased security to protect our ambassador (per his requests twice) with a deadly anniversary coming up (911)...a day that any Western interest in the Muslim world become a potential target of terrorism. But no, he took his chances since he had made the claim that terrorists were on the run and no longer a threat. His defense now...this is all made up and a "phoney scandal". Tell that to the families of the dead Americans whose were pleas for help were literally ignored..."Oh, we will never get there in time"...just who gave the order to stand down? I believe Obama ordered Hillary. She should have ignored that order...now she is guilty as well.

I think the "singing outloud regardless of whether you should" thing runs in myRead Morefamily...o nce when my Nephew was little, my sister was singing to him...he reached up and gently pinched her lips together and whispered "Shhhhhh..." OW.
Liz June 19, 2014 at 10:02 AM
Now that's funny.
rubberband June 19, 2014 at 10:13 AM
It's a family legend. My sister was pretty "OW!" because as I recall she was having aRead Moretend er 'singing to my child" moment.

Jeffe, Perhaps you meant to comment somewhere else, or didn't watch the video. Your comment hasRead Morenoth ing to do with it. If you are just going blog to blog with hate, a reminder. Their are relatively few who go around patch sites all over the country poisoning the blogs with hate. Don't be on that list.
Jeffe' June 16, 2014 at 06:59 PM
You seem to throw the word hate around quite a bit, why is that? A bit wound up, and are readingRead Morefar more into a comment than you should. My comment was to be taken as it was written, just an off the cuff thought regarding an amusing video referring to a theory that has since been extensively researched and evolved, which some folks simply refuse to accept. No harm intended... I apologize, it seems to have upset you and it could have been worded a bit more PC. =)

I watched them for 20 minutes and they just happen to look the same way for a quick moment and IRead Morehad the camera trained on them much of the time. Could be they heard a hiker up the trail and I did not. Generally speaking neither paid any attention to me while they tore up a couple logs.
rubberband June 14, 2014 at 04:16 PM
My sister bear is loving all the positive comments....Both are healthy, her cub is a curious little Read Moretike and overall a joy. and happy for the most part. Remember that I only say this because I know it to be true....Keep your food locked up and pets safe....while we LOVE meatballs and human stuff, it's better we don't have it and get used to it.....sad to say we are better left to stay away from y'all. No offense.......

Because we're on the west coast of the US and there are large populations of Asians in SoCal wouldRead Moreb e my guess. Years ago when there were a lot of European immigrants in the area, our ties to Europe were stronger and the European economies were booming, we had mostly European exchange students. America is no longer Euro-centric and most of our economic and other ties are now with Asian countries and not with Europe. There are still a good number of summer exchange students from other parts of the world coming to the US but remember that the Asian economies are booming right now so Asians not only have the desire to travel to study but they have the money to participate in these programs.

Hey, RB. I remember something about your air conditioning breaking down last year. I am sure youRead Morehav e thought about a window air unit, as a stop gap measure. They are much less money, and more efficient than years ago. Their is also, a newer type idea. "split air" which is a step up from window air. And I remember you stated some giant price they wanted for a new air conditioner unit. Unless they are going to install all new ductwork, and openings, all you probably need is the units itself.
rubberband June 28, 2014 at 11:13 AM
howdy Buzz....Yea...I have the old EPA no longer approved freon unit and to make my central airRead Morework they'd hafta replace the unit..... something in the neighborhood of 7 grand. No way. I'll stick with the situation I have now...So yep gonna hafta look into a window unit...this little space cooler is workin' overtime. Until then I think I am going to stop whining (first world problems, right?) and consider finding a cooler climate to retire in....
