Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year: Samantha Rodarte

The Boys & Girls Club of the Foothills named its Youth of the Year earlier this month and she will compete in a regional competition.

Local youth volunteer Samantha Rodarte was named the "Youth of the Year" by the The Boys & Girls Club of the Foothills earlier this month, the highest honor awarded by the club.

Rodarte, a 17-year-old junior at Monrovia High School, was honored by the club on Feb. 1 and will face off against 26 other youths from the Los Angeles area on Feb. 20 for the opportunity to earn scholarship money and advance to the state competition, according to BGCF site director Amy Borton.

"We are all incredibly proud of and confident in Sam and cannot wait to see how she fares in the next round!," Borton wrote in an email.
