From Father’s Day Celebrations to Counting Butterflies

This weekend is Father’s Day! Have you got anything planned? Whether you want to treat your dad, spend time with the family or just shake off your work week, here’s a list of local events sure to entertain.



Where/When: Monrovia United Methodist Church, Thursday, 7-9 p.m.

Why Go: Interested in rocks, gems and fossils? This group gathers monthly to discuss and compare everything related to this hobby.

Pricing: Free.



Where/When: Café 322, Thursday, 7-11 p.m.

Why Go: Kick off the weekend early with a night of mellow music over drinks and/or dinner.

Pricing: Menu items vary.



Where/When: Canyon Park, Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Why Go: This event features a guided five-mile hike, during which time local butterflies will be identified and counted to determine how many are in the area.

Pricing: $10 (includes $5 for parking).



Where/When: 1 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena (one location of many), Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Why Go: Make Music Pasadena is a free all-day event featuring more than 100 concerts across six stages in the downtown Pasadena area.

Pricing: Free.



Where/When: The Coffee Gallery, Sunday, 7 p.m.

Why Go: Take Dad to hear this popular a cappella group celebrating 25 years in the business.

Pricing: $20.
