High Winds Forecast, Monrovia Not Likely to be Impacted

High winds are forecast for mountains and valleys on Thursday night and Friday, but a National Weather Service forecaster tells Patch that San Gabriel Valley winds will likely top out in the 15 to 25 mph range.

High winds forecast for Los Angeles County starting Thursday night are not currently expected to have a serious impact on the San Gabriel Valley, according to Bonnie Bartling, a weather specialist with the National Weather Service.

The forecast starting Thursday night says wind of up to 60 mph could occur in parts of the San Gabriel Mountains and winds of 40 mph in valleys in Los Angeles County and Ventura County.

But the winds are more likely in traditional Santa Ana wind areas like the Santa Clarita Valley and San Fernando Valley, Bartling said. The Monrovia area is likely to see winds of no more than 15 to 25 mph, she said.

The weather service has yet to issue a high wind watch for the San Gabriel Valley, which would indicate potential gusts of up to 58 mph, and right now there is no indication that winds of that speed are likely to occur, she added.

Monrovia's forecast for Friday and Saturday is breezy, mostly sunny, and temperatures ranging from 45 to 61 degrees.
