Hope House to Hold Benefit Walk

Officials at Hope House in Duarte are asking you to save the date for the Walk Hope House event taking place Saturday, Oct. 12.

All proceeds for the event will benefit the children and adults at Hope House. Participants will walk through the neighborhoods of Hope House.

This is the second year Hope House is holding the walk event. Last year's Walk Hope House generated around $8,000, said Juli Travis, from Hope House.

The walk will last about an hour, as participants will tour some of the 10 group homes that Hope House operates in El Monte, Travis said.

Since 1963, Hope House in Duarte has provided care and assistance to families with autistic children.

Hope House is a private non-profit organization providing specialized homes and services for those with intellectual disabilities, including autism. The goal of Hope House is to give those with autism the tools to become self-sufficient through unconditional support and positive motivation.

Entertainers, music and refreshments will be provided.

The cost to register is $20 per walker. Teams are encouraged. Participants will receive a t-shirt, bag and lunch. Sponsorship booths will be available.

The event takes place Oct. 12 at 9 a.m. at Hope House, 4215 Peck Road in El Monte.

There is still time to register. Call Juli Travis at (626) 443-1313.

Registration the day of the event will take place between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
