Mama Bear and Cub Spend Quality Time in Monrovia Home's Backyard

The mother bear drank sugar water from a hummingbird feeder, the cub snacked on an avocado and at one point both climbed a tree and took an hour- long nap

A mother bear and her cub were spotted in a Monrovia yard this morning.

Kate Clark told ABC7 she went out to fill the bird feeders at her foothill home on Granite Avenue when she saw the mother bear nursing the cub under a tree.

The mother bear drank sugar water from a hummingbird feeder, the cub snacked on an avocado and at one point both climbed a tree and took an hour- long nap, Clark said.

The cub was "very exited to show his mom all his little tricks and drink water out of the bird bath and all sorts of fun things that he found to do in the back yard," she said.

Eventually they moved on.

"As long as we don't startle them or upset them too much they're fine," Clark said. "They are just looking for avocados, pomegranates, grapefruit, whatever they can eat off the trees, and some water."
