Authorities search for over an hour for the suspect.

A man wanted for a sexual assault was the focus of a search by authorities after he ran from police.

The man reportedly fled into a backyard and possibly into a home in the 100 block of East Los Angeles Avenue after officers made visual contact with him. Officers searched, but were unable to locate the suspect, police said.

The incident happened some time before 6:30 p.m., Friday. Monrovia officers established a containment as they descended on the house where they believed the man as hiding. A helicopter was brought in to help with the search. The suspect was never located, said Sergeant Patty Newton of Monrovia Police.

The man was described as a male Black in his 20s. He was seen wearing a dark sweatshirt, gray pants and had a black baseball hat, according to initial scanner reports.
