Monrovia Gears Up for its Annual Home Decorating Contest

Judging to the contest takes place Dec. 16.

'Tis the season for strings of lights and plastic reindeer on the lawn.

The city of Monrovia is gearing up to kick off its Annual Home Decorating Contest. Those with a flare for helping to make the neighborhood bright can pick up an application for the contest Monday at the Monrovia Community Center, 119 West Palm Ave or on the city's website at www.cityofmonrovia.org.

The application also has been attached to this post in pdf form.

Judging for the contest will happen Dec. 16, with winners recognized at the City Council meeting Dec. 17 at City Hall, according to a news release.

The 12 judging categories include:

• Best Still Display
• Best Outdoor Display
• Best Decorated Outdoor Tree
• Best Window Display
• Holiday Spirit Award
• Most Effective Use of Lighting a house
• Toyland Award
• Children’s Choice Award
• Best Neighborhood Effort
• Snowman Award
• Judges Award
• Tim McKeehan “Best of Season” Award
