‘Tis that time of year again, when the beer flows freely, everyone’s (hopefully) wearing green and corned beef actually sounds like a pretty good idea. That’s right—happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Not sure where to go to celebrate Ireland’s most famous holiday? Well, here’s a list of five local pubs and restaurants that are all set to show you a good time, in true Celtic fashion (i.e., there will be plenty of Guinness):
—One of my favorite Pasadena hangouts, Lucky Baldwin’s also has a Sierra Madre location. Here you’ll find an array of international and domestic beers to go with good pub fare. On St. Paddy’s, they’ll have Irish stew, corned beef and cabbage, and fish ‘n’ chips all day. Mmm. Pasadena: (626) 795-0652, Sierra Madre: (626) 355-1140
. Enjoy a special St. Paddy's Day menu at this Arcadia watering hole, plus they'll be serving up corned beef and cabbage all day long. In the evening, check out music on the patio from the Nackers from 6 p.m.-11 p.m. (626) 462-0250
Altadena Ale House. Looking for a place a little off the beaten track? Head toward the mountains up Fair Oaks to Altadena Ale House and have a pint of Guinness, a glass of Harp or another tempting libation. Hungry? Get ready for some more corned beef and cabbage. (You’re noticing a theme here, I hope.) (626) 794-4577
T. Boyle’s Tavern. Come for the beer, stay for the darts and pool tables—which can get really interesting after a few Black & Tans. The St. Patrick’s Day party will be going on into the wee hours of tomorrow morning. (626) 578-0957
Barney’s Ltd. The Pasadena location will have green beer, lamb stew, Irish chili, and green potato cabbage. Don’t worry, they’ll also have plenty corned beef action, too. As a bonus, experience wild musical fun with The Wicked Tinkers, somewhere in the neighborhood of 9 p.m. Not in the mood for Pasadena's Old Town? Barney's Ltd. is in Sierra Madre, too. Pasadena: (626) 577-2739, Sierra Madre: (626) 355-3502.
