Photo Spotlight: Like Father Like Cub

This photo sent in by a reader shows how bears learn their trash-eating ways.

When it comes to trash-eating bears, the nature vs. nurture debate is over: nurture wins.

This photograph possibly provides irrefutable evidence that Monrovia's bears are not biologically predisposed to knocking over trashcans; they learn their dumpster-diving behavior from their elders.

Big thanks to reader Robert Machulla for snapping and sharing this shot of bears run amok in northern Monrovia on August 5 at about 7:30 p.m.
