Road to the Academy Awards

The Monrovia Public Library is pleased to present the Road to the Academy Awards, movies to be held Mondays, January 30, February 6 and 13, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the Library Community Room. All movies are free and sponsored by the Friends of the Monrovia Public Library.

Due to licensing agreement the film title cannot be publicized outside the library. Please call the library for film title.

January 30- A romantic comedy about a family traveling to the French capital for business. The party includes a young engaged couple forced to confront the illusion that a life different from their own is better.  Starring Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams and Kathy Bates, 94 minutes, Rated PG-13.

February 6- A young man is rocked by two announcements from his elderly father: that he has terminal cancer, and that he has a young male lover.  Starring Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer and Mélanie Laurent, 105 minutes, Rated R.

February 13- An aspiring author during the civil rights movement of the 1960's decides to write a book detailing the African-American maid's point of view on the white families for which they work, and the hardships they go through on a daily basis. Starring Emma Stone, Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer, 146 minutes, Rated PG-13.
