Acapulco Restaurants File for Bankruptcy on National Taco Day

The Mexican food chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Tuesday, Oct. 4, the date National Taco Day is celebrated.

It's been a bad year for Monrovia's , and more bad news came on National Taco Day.

Forbe's.com reports that Acapulco's parent company Real Mex filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Tuesday, the .

Monrovia's Acapulco already had some bad luck in August when a driver and then fled the scene. The crash surrounding the restaurant's bar area.



Real Mex, which also owns Chevy's and El Torito, blamed the bankruptcy filing on the prolonged recession that has kept people from eating out as much, according to Forbes. The company hopes to sell itself at auction in the next few months.
