Monrovia Business Report: Film Festival Coming to Town

The big business news in town this week is that an international film festival will arrive in Old Town this summer. Read on for more.
- EFC Films will be bringing the Action on Film International Film Festival to Monrovia in August. The event is expected to bring in 20,000 guests and will be hosted at the Krikorian Theater, according to Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Karin Crehan. "It sounds like it would be a wonderful event for the town," Crehan told Patch.
- Local spy drone maker Aerovironment's Raven unmanned aircraft is used to scan the launch area at Vandenberg Air Force Base before spy satellites are sent into space.
- Monrovia biotech company Prolacta Bioscience, which makes breast milk fortifier out of real breast milk, committed to donating $30,000 this year to the Make-A-Wish foundation.
- Software streamlining company Parasoft, headquartered on Huntington Drive, announced it will distribute a research paper on software defect prevention.
- The CEO of Trader Joe's, which is based in Monrovia, gave a rare interview and said his favorite product is "Two Buck Chuck" wine.
