Montrose's Rocky Cola Cafe Will Close This Month

The nostalgic 1950s themed diner will end operations on Dec. 30.

Vintage-style diner and soda fountain Rocky Cola Cafe will close at the end of December due to a challenging economy, a manager told Patch.

The restaurant opened in 1987 at the corner of Verdugo Road and Honolulu Avenue and is best known for its cheeseburgers and milkshakes.

Former President President Bill Clinton had lunch at the eatery in 1996.

Its last day open will be Dec. 30.

I went there with my husband a few months ago and he found a big blue rubber band in his burger. We pointed it out and they didnt offer us anything else and they wouldnt take it off the bill. I decided that was the last time I would ever go there again. Hopefully we get a good restaurant there instead.

The sad thing is, the rubber band probably enhanced the flavor.

Walked by it yesterday and saw a notice that an alcohol permit is being sought for a business called "Bluejeans" that will be at that location. Does anyone know anything about this?
