UPDATE: Outage Knocks Out Power to 3,500 Monrovia Customers

Several thousand Monrovia customers were greeted with a power outage the morning of July 4. The cause is currently unknown.

Update (8:50 a.m.): Most customers have their power restored with full restoration estimated for about 11 a.m. today, according to SCE.

Update (8:23 a.m.): The customers affected by the outage has been reduced to 1,756, according to Edison. No restoration time estimate is available.

Previously: A major power outage knocked out electricity for more than 3,500 Monrovia customers Wednesday morning, according to Southern California Edison.

The outage began at 6:35 a.m., according to SCE's online outage center. The cause remains unknown.

"We have notified our repair crews," the company states on its website.
