Overnight Outage Knocked Out Power for 7,535 Local Customers

The power outage in Monrovia and Arcadia late Monday night was caused when an unknown object struck equipment at an Arcadia sub-station, an Edison spokesman said.

More than 7,500 Monrovia and Arcadia customers lost power Monday night when an unknown object struck equipment, causing an outage that lasted over an hour, a Southern California Edison spokesman said.

The outage happened at 11:06 p.m. in parts of Monrovia and Arcadia, Edison spokesman Darryl Ryan said.

"There was a still-unknown object that made contact with a piece of equipment that caused a flashover which essentially just knocked out power," Ryan said.
