Owners of Newly Opened Empire Bikes Stress Service, Quality

A new business recently rolled into Old Town Monrovia.

Empire Bikes opened about a month ago on South Myrtle Avenue, the company's second store.  The owners also have a Chino Hills shop, which opened a little more than a year ago.

"The city of Monrovia was just kind of calling for a new, quality bike shop," said Adam Nelson, the company's brand and marketing manager.  "Monrovia is a highly cycled city.  People are very involved in cycling."

Empire Bikes specializes in mountain and road bikes, catering to families, youth, and older riders alike, Nelson said. The store also carries helmets, gloves, and clothing. The staff also does repairs.

The store is stocked "slim," he said, with the emphasis on quality, not quantity.

"We cycle every day," he said.  "We know what's good and not good. We don't sell what is not good. We sell good, better, best."

A couple of early views for the Monrovia store on yelp.com lauded the customer service.

"The level of service they offer is fantastic," wrote Lamb B. "I bought a mountain bike there and they were very helpful in answering all my questions. Their after sale  service has been very positive. They truly care for their customers."

Another said the store had the best price.

"Called ALL over orange county, riverside county and L.A. county and these guys gave me the best price," wrote L.M.  "I rode a few different bikes, changed out a few seats but walked out with a grrreat bike-a Giant Escape 2 2014."

Nelson said service is key for Empire Bikes.

"Top products, quality bikes, and superior service," he said.  "Service is everything for us."
