Photos: Hong Kong Supermarket Opens Its Doors

The new supermarket on Duarte Road held a grand opening ceremony on Thursday.

The Hong Kong Supermarket debuted in Monrovia during a grand opening event held Thursday in front of the store at 935 West Duarte Road, the My Monrovia Business Blog reports.

The new market is one of five Hong Kong Supermarkets in the San Gabriel Valley, according to the Pasadena Star-News. The building was previously used by Super A Foods and was used as a location in a Hollywood film shoot in 2011.

We received their weekly ad earlier this week announcing their opening. We hope to visit soon and have a look around.

The store is great but parking is terrible and unsafe. I go to the shopping center 4 times a week to use the laundry and classes for my child. There's too many cars and people! Only one way in and out! They need to open back gate to improve car flow! Does anyone know if this is a fire hazard?

This store is amazing. I went in looking for a couple of obscure items I hadn't found elsewhere, and walked out having spent $50, not because of expense but because I found many other things I also wanted, and some I hadn't ever heard of but wanted to try. It is well organized, clean, and the customer service is excellent. It's right next to my daughter's ballet school so I can walk over and pick up things while she's in lessons, and while admittedly the parking isn't ideal, neither is the parking anywhere else around here so it's pretty average. I've seen worse. I was very impressed by the wide selection of foods and the prices. For example, King Trumpet/Royal Trumpet/King Oyster mushrooms are $19.99 a pound everywhere you go and not even organic for that price, here you can get ORGANIC trumpet mushrooms, very good quality, at less than $5 per pound. The conventional ones they have are even cheaper than that. Definitely pop in here and see for yourself!
