Southland Gasoline Prices Fall for 32nd Straight Day

Gas prices are at the lowest amount since Feb. 23.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County declined Friday for the 32nd consecutive day, dropping three-tenths of a cent to $4.191, its lowest amount since Feb. 23.

The average price is 3.1 cents less than a week ago, 17.3 cents lower than one month ago and 4.4 cents below what it was one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has decreased 17.5 cents over the past 32 days, including four-tenths of a cent on Thursday. The streak of declines is the longest since a 42-day streak that ended on Dec. 23.

The Orange County average price is 3.3 cents less than a week ago, 18.4 cents lower than one month ago and 5.8 cents below what it was one year ago. It
has decreased 18.6 cents over the past 32 days, including six-tenths of a cent
on Thursday.

The declining pump prices stem from a steep decrease to the wholesale gasoline price, Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service.

"We are seeing several more stations with pries under $4 a gallon in East Los Angeles County, Costa Mesa, the Palm Springs area, San Bernardino and Escondido," said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California. "Prices are ranging widely right now from over $4.30 at some stations to under $4, so it's important to shop around."
