Bear Spotted Swimming in Duarte Pool

The bear wandered away before sheriff's deputies responded.

Sheriff's deputies responded to a Duarte home Friday when firefighters clearing brush in the hillsides reported seeing a bear swimming in a backyard pool.

The bear had already left the property in the 2700 block of Briar Summit by the time deputies arrived, Sheriff's Sgt. Ann Devane said. The call came in at 11:13 p.m.

A bear was chased from the kitchen of a Duarte home earlier this week.
