Man Allegedly Jumps Out of Moving Car During Monrovia Police Pursuit

Police say the suspect broke his ankle and was transported to a local hospital early Tuesday morning.

A man bailed out of his moving car and broke his ankle while allegedly trying to evade police early Tuesday morning, a Monrovia police official said.

The unidentified man allegedly led police on a chase through Monrovia and Duarte at about 3:42 a.m. after police tried to pull him over for failing to yield, Monrovia Police Lt. Nels Ortlund said. The brief pursuit ended in Duarte when the man exited his moving vehicle.

"The guy jumped out of a moving car and broke his ankle," Ortlund said.

Ortlund did not know the exact locations where the chase began and ended. The E.SGV Scanner Twitter feed reported that the chase began on Olive Avenue in Monrovia and ended in the 800 block of Random Lane in Duarte.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital and will be booked on charges of evading arrest, Ortlund said.
