Race of Our Lives: A 1-mile Walk for Pulmonary Hypertension

Team PHenomenal Hope, The Race of Our Lives Unity Miles Walk - Monrovia,

Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) is a very rare, under-diagnosed and often misdiagnosed disease.  The disease caused high blood pressure in the pulmonary arteries.  This makes it harder for the blood to flow through the lungs to pick up oxygen.  This causes potentially life-threatening consequences such as right heart failure.  When diagnosed in time treatment can be administered that improve quality of life and may prolong it.  At this time there is no cure; but we believe through research we will find the cure for PH.

Team PHenomenal Hope, an all-women cycling team featuring a PH-treating physician, will compete in a high-endurance cycling event, Race Across America on June 14, 2014.  The team will be racing to raise awareness of PH, as well as funds for PHA and research to find a cure.

Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) has launched the RACE OF OUR LIVES campaign to rally the PH community members behind Team PHenomenal Hop, creating opportunities for patients, families and medical professionals to raise funds and awareness in their own communities.

Monrovia community member, Joannie Gholar Yuille, has PH.  She is asking the community to support her in a Unity Miles event to join the RACE OF OUR LIVES campaign, PHA and Team PHenomenal Hope in their journey.  Unity Miles events don't need to a bike ride, it is just a way of gathering together our community in support of the Race in order to raise awareness and funds for PH.  Monrovia will be placed on the Map with other communities across American gathering.  Join Joannie, family, friends and community members as they demonstrate their support in a one mile walk around Library Park in Monrovia.
