Patch Blogger: Well There Goes the Neighborhood...

Local artist and blogger Frank "frazgo" Zgonc introduces himself.

Good morning all, I've been asked to blog here and took Patch up on the offer.

Why?  Because I do have a great love for the community I chose to make a home in. I'm also not afraid to disagree with others. I think there is plenty going on in Monrovia, good bad and ugly and I'm not afraid to go there and share my thoughts.

What can you expect from me? Certainly not a lot of blind following of the accepted norm.  Just like my art I tend to meander down different paths and following the ones of greatest curiousity.  I can't promise to stay in the lines and agree with all that goes on around here. If I offend I'm sorry in advance, but I do tend to be vocal with those ideas I disagree with.

"frazgo", lower case intended as I really don't have a lot of pretensions. frazgo came about as it was a mash-up of my first and last name done by an employer years ago. At the suggestion of a friend who happens to be one hell of a lifestyle manager, Ruth Waytz, we started to use it as a brand for my art. It worked and you can find me and my art all over the web under that exact nom de plum.

I blog all over the place, some for others some for myself.  One I even own with a friend and cover all things with wheels here in So Cal. You can find me on blogging.la where I often share what is going on here with a wider audience as well as the cool stuff I find in LA. SoCalAutoBlog is my newest blog adventure. You can follow me and my art at frazgo meanders, and what I come up with in my kitchen on frazgo feasting.

You can pretty much be promised I will bore you to tears with what goes on at the Monrovia Association of Fine Arts. I devote a lot of energy to this group as I believe in their mission of bringing art to the community and fostering the appreciation and creation of it. I've been a past president with them and currently serve as Vice-president, I have been a MAFA board member for 5 years. Its been nearly that long that I've been jurying in and helping coordinate the fall Celebrate the Arts that we host in each October.

Pretty much every post I will do will have an image attached. Some from my flickr archives, others will be freshly shot just for the post. I'm a visual art kinda guy and do like to share what I see with others. The image in this post is also one I donated to MAFA for their fundraiser on Saturday night. Mary Ann Lutz and her husband were the purchasers of this piece, bought to add to their collection of Monrovia memorabilia.

Lastly, pardon the odd typo, I've always thought faster than I think and can't proof read myself to save my life.  Oh...and I love a good conversation,  I don't expect you to agree with me (actually think it would be boring if you did) so feel free to sound off in the comments.

I look forward to sharing with you what I see going on around to.  But enough about me,  what do you want to hear about? What are you expectations for the Patch Blog?
