Patch Blog: Mrs. Schlicht's Project Deserves a Touchdown!

Mrs. Schlicht's project has made progress, but is in jeopardy if goal is not reached on time.

We've come so far in such a short time, but there are still 163 steps to go. 163 represents the number of dollars required for Ms. Schlicht's project for her special needs combination class at Bradoaks to be funded. Would you please consider stepping up to help meet this goal? If it is not reached by the time the project deadline is reached, the money already donated will go to another worthy project in a classroom in a DIFFERENT school district.

16 people have already done their part, and Ms. Schlicht has communicated she is grateful for the assistance thus far. Patch reader Heather Nixon Stokes has been a tremendous cheerleader for the cause, helping to spread the word, and informs us, "Your donation will be matched (by Chase) by using the code ZONKER."

It is so easy to make a contribution through Donors Choose, and your donations are tax deductible. Many companies have matching gifts programs that support education. You may donate a small sum and have it doubled in that fashion.

Do we have a youth group in town that might collect and recycle cans and bottles, deposit the funds, and pay via PayPal? Is there a church with a few extra dollars they haven't yet targeted, or perhaps someone who might give in memory of a loved one who valued children and believed in education? Perhaps there was a teacher who meant the world to you and for whom your contribution might honor. Something to think about.

Come on Monrovia, please consider being the one who carries this through the end zone and allows Ms. Schlicht to get the supplemental educational materials that will make the difference for our young citizens. For my money, they deserve this much and more.
