Community Corner

SUPPLIES DRIVE & CONCERT

In effort to raise educational supplies for the children participating with the Monrovia Reads and Plays program, members of the community and surrounding cities are encouraged to be part of a supplies drive and concert at Library Park in Monrovia. The concert will feature a performance by local band, DS3. Supplies to be donated are construction paper, colored pencils, notebooks, chalk, jump ropes, sporting balls, pencils, washable markers, crayons, line paper, glue sticks and rulers.

Monrovia Reads & Plays is a non-profit mobile literacy and recreation program run by the city of Monrovia. The Reads & Plays bus visits children in the community to provide a safe and productive after school environment. The program’s mission is to create an environment where both education and community involvement are valued.  Through the use of free tutoring, arts and crafts, and sporting activities, children in the community are provided with the resources they need to improve their grades and character.
