Allow Me to Introduce Myself...

The volunteer spirit of Monrovia is shared by one of the town's active participants.

As one of the "newer" Monrovian's, arriving in 2004, I fell in love with the San Gabriel Mountains, the historic architecture, revitalized Old Town and the friendly folk. The thing that retains my heart to our All American City is the Volunteer spirit. It would be intriguing to do the stats on the ratio of 501 3c to residents.

The giving hearts of Monrovia will be the main focus of my writings here on Patch.  I maintain two other blogs with respective twitter accounts.  Artgirlmonrovia and @artgirlmonrovia is the musings of a woman struggling with living an intentional, purposed life amidst fast food cravings, affluenza and the aging process. The Exquisite House and @exquisitehouse is all of my experience in domestic arts shared. My favorite recipes, homemaking, time management and entertaining tips all in one spot. It is like having that infamous domestic global media guru right in your own backyard!

My days are filled with a myriad of activities. Growing a social media marketing consulting business which is focused on helping the independents gain maximum exposure fills much of my time. Volunteering at the Library and with the Friends of the Library is a passion that feeds my soul. My involvement with the local Art Association helps foster my creativity with my own art as well as bring awareness to our community of just how important Art Education is to our young students in the area. It can only be obvious that I have what some would call "a servant's heart".

That service is specifically why I want to highlight the various groups that give back to our tucked away municipality. There are some very obvious non-profits that we all know and love. Then there are those quiet volunteers that diligently work to better the lives of others because someone, somewhere impacted them. It is that spirit I want to share. That is the part of life that, for me, brings about the most fulfillment. Our current economic situation has taught us the value of possession. We can appropriate generosity  forever.
