Patch Blog: The Generosity of Monrovians

Charity begins at home and is often needed there.

We sometimes forget, in these hard economic times, the people who need a helping hand might just be the family next door or our local school.

Monrovia is fortunate to be the home of The Foothill Unity Center. Since 1980, some 4,000 famlies have been helped by this benevolent agency headed by David Steinmeier, the current Board President. Last year the Center outfitted 1,800 kids from very low income families with back-to-school gear. The goal is to provide for 2,000 this year.

Foothill Unity Center’s 13th Annual Back-to-School Event on Thursday, August 18, at Santa Anita Park racetrack. Please remember them when you consider a way to "pay it forward" for your own good fortune. Volunteer to help out or donate needed supplies. http://www.foothillunitycenter.org/
