Two grads are part of an elite drum corps which won the top spot at a world championship over the last weekend.

Chyann Figueroa and Marcus Stone are part of the Blue Devils, which won first place at Drum Corps International's championship in Indianapolis August 11th. The Blue Devils have the distinction of being the only corps to win first place fifteen times in DCI's 40-year history.

Chyann Figueroa is a percussionist. She graduated from MHS in 2010; since then she has been included in Riverside City College's award-winning band and is an instructor at Golden Valley High School. Marcus Stone graduated from MHS in 2011, and was their drum major from September 2009 to June 2011, under band director Daniel Magallanes. He plays euphonium and is currently a student at UCLA.

In addition to their big win Saturday night, The Blue Devils performed Sunday at the pre-season Colts vs Rams NFL haltime show. However, their season isn't quite over yet: many individuals in the corps will be going to Guatemala over Labor Day weekend to perform and provide instruction to musicians down there!
