Blog: Donations Requested for MHS NASA Satellite Truck
MHS needs to raise $2000 to offset the unexpected cost of a satellite truck for the Space Station teleconference in March. Rotary is accepting tax deductible donations toward this project.
You may (or may not) be aware based upon a previous Patch news release and a blog post by Kristin Ford that MHS was selected as 1 of 6 schools in the nation that will participate in a satellite broadcast on March 5th where our 5th graders will have the opportunity to speak to astronauts located at the International Space Station (ISS).
In order to secure this honor, MHS committed to provide a satellite truck that will provide the communication between the high school auditorium and the Space Station. Originally, a satellite truck had been donated, however due to a conflict in scheduling, the donated truck is no longer available on the date of the broadcast. MHS has secured a contract for another truck at a significant discount but now needs to raise the funds ($2000) to help offset the unexpected cost of the truck.
We are asking for the public's help in donating any amount that you are able to give to help with this truck expense. The Rotary Club of Monrovia is currently accepting tax deductible donations earmarked for this project to the Monrovia Rotary Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit (EID: 51-0656409). All money received will be donated toward the cost of the satellite truck.
