Patch Blog: Make a Difference This Saturday

This Saturday, October 22, 2011 YOU can make a difference in Monrovia by participating in the Annual Make a Difference Day.  Volunteer opportunities will be available at starting at 8am.  From school beautification projects to helping home-bound seniors, there will be over 20 different projects that you can sign up for to assist in your community on this national day of volunteering.

The will be participating again this year alongside the Interact Club from Monrovia High School.  In the past we have painted an out-building at the YMCA, sorted food for the Foothill Unity Center, and many other worthwhile projects.  This year we will be helping out a senior resident on Cherry Avenue with some yard clean-up, trimming, and painting of an iron fence.

To participate, all that is needed is a waiver (fill out in advance here or at the park)  and a willingness to participate.  Come to Library Park at 7:30am to enjoy a free continental breakfast for the volunteers.  The Make a Difference Day kick-off and registration begins at 8am.  You can browse through all the projects to decide which meets your interests, skill, and abilities.  After you have completed your project, come back to the park to enjoy a free lunch.

Councilman and fellow Rotarian said it best: "The question is, will you be there to help make a difference in someone's life? Library Park, 7:30. We will feed you, give you a job to do, feed you again and send you home feeling so much better, that you made a difference!"
