Police At Scene of Reported Shots Fired

Officers stopped vehicle, detained three people possibly related to incident, one possible shooting victim reported.

UPDATE, Sept. 16, 2:19 a.m.: Police are continuing to investigate the shooting that took place at Myrtle and Los Angeles avenues. There is at least one confirmed victim shot during the incident, said Sergeant Patty Newton of Monrovia Police.

The condition of the victim was not immediately known.

PREVIOUSLY: have detained three people possibly connected to a call of shots fired late Saturday.

One person was allegedly injured by gunfire, according to scanner reports.

Officers reported hearing two to three gunshots in the area of Myrtle Avenue and Montana Street just before 11:30 p.m. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a maroon-colored van fleeing the area at a high rate of speed. Minutes later, police received a 911 call of a shooting victim, according to scanner reports.

Police located a van fitting eyewitness descriptions moving east on the 210 freeway. Officers followed the van to the 605 freeway and conducted a traffic stop on Ramona Blvd. and detained the three occupants.

Calls to the Monrovia Police Department were not immediately returned. Officers are still at the scene trying to piece together the incident.
