5 Things You Need to Know About Your Patch Editor

Get to know Montrose Patch's new local editor.

Hey Montrose Patchers! I'm Nicole Charky, your new local editor. I'd like to introduce myself with five quick facts about me.

1. I was born in Pomona, CA and moved to La Crescenta in 6th grade, where I attended . The following year I attempted to open my jammed  locker. For high school I attended all-girls Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in La Cañada Flintridge, where I loved wearing a uniform and not brushing my hair before school!

2. I earned my Bachelor's of Arts in Journalism from Loyola University Chicago and studied under many talented, professional journos. In college I began reporting on community news and crime on Chicago's North Side at the Loyola Phoenix.

3. When I'm not punching away on a keyboard, you can catch me at the with my family, or sipping margaritas at with my pals.

4. Riding bicycles is an obsession of mine, and I'm very interested Glendale's new master plan for bicycle lanes (more on that to come). In addition, I love seeing performances at local venues, especially at and .

5. I'm always in the area and up for a chat at . Follow me on Facebook, Tweet or text me at 818-207-3662.

Thanks Tim! I love hearing from Loyola folks. Where are you living in LA? Are you in the Montrose area? Best of luck to you, too!

Glad to be working with you, Nicole! I am also from Chicago...well, Evanston. But close enough!

That's hilarious, I have a special place in my heart for Evanston in the fall, when all the leaves change to orange and red. I worked at Rotary Club International's headquarters, interning with their print and online magazine. They're off the Davis Purple Line stop but I loved biking from Roger's Park to work.

Nicole: one of the reasons you love biking is that you ride a girl's bike aka no bar going from seat level straight to steering column....boy's learned to not let their foot slip off of a peddle. or is it pedal. As if you don't already know. I like to take a poke at things....good work, fair damsel....b
