Blog: MHS Reaches API Goal Set 5 Years Ago

MHS Celebrates an Academic Milestone

Monrovia High School received great news from the state department of education on Wednesday. The Academic Performance Index (API) score which is a measure of how students are meeting state mandated standards in English, Math, Science, and Social Science was released to the public. The No Child Left Behind Act, passed in 2001, required all schools to reach a score of 800 by the 2013-2014 school year. In 2007 all stakeholders in the MHS community made a commitment to reach this goal within five years. As of Wednesday, the Wildcat family can officially celebrate the attainment of this goal as the 800 threshold was passed and their API score was announced. 802! This a true achievement of the entire school community and a reflection of the commitment of all stakeholders to the pursuit of academic excellence. Congratulations to our scholars and champions!
