Shots Fired on Colorado Boulevard

Police are canvassing the area but have not identified any suspects or victims.

Update: Several calls to Monrovia PD Saturday revealed no new information. An officer said that bullet casings were found, but there's still no evidence of any bullet holes, damage or suspects.

Authorities received several reports of gun shots being fired on Colorado Boulevard early Saturday morning but have not identified any suspects or victims, police said.

A single shell casing was recovered in the street on the 200 block of east Colorado Boulevard, according to Lt. Nels Ortlund. Residents reported hearing between four and eight shots at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Ortlund said.

A police helicopter was on the scene within about a minute but no suspects or victims could be found, Ortlund said.

"At this point it’s a 'who done it'," Ortlund said. "We don’t even know how many cases will be found."

Police are checking with local hospitals to see if anyone was admitted with gunshot wounds. A preliminary investigation did not find any structures or vehicles that were struck by bullets, Ortlund said.

"Right now I don’t have any indication of bullet strikes," he said. "For all we know, it could have been car-to-car. There’s still a lot of questions to be answered."
