Brush Fire Leads to 7 Bear Sightings Reported in Monrovia Since Sunday

Bears are descending from the hillsides into Monrovia as firefighters finish extinguishing the Madison Fire.

Monrovia residents have reported at least seven bear sightings in the hillsides since Sunday as firefighters continue to extinguish the remnants of the massive brush fire that broke out over the weekend.

Smoke from the fire has apparently pushed the animals into town, city spokeswoman Jennifer McLain told the Associated Press.

In one incident reported Monday, two bears broke into a Monrovia home and crashed through a glass window to escape after they were discovered by the resident, police said.
