CHP IDs Motorcyclist Who Died In Crash on 605 Freeway

Manuel Paleo was killed at 7:30 p.m., Friday in a crash involving a big rig in Industry.

A motorcyclist who died in a collision with a big rig on the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Industry was identified Saturday as a 20- year-old Los Angeles man.

Manuel Paleo was killed at 7:30 p.m. Friday on the southbound side of the freeway near Peck Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

According to the CHP's preliminary investigation, Paleo was riding a 2002 Honda when he attempted to use the right shoulder to pass a 2014 Peterbilt big rig.

The left side of the motorcycle struck the front of the big rig, according to the CHP, which reported that Paleo was thrown from the bike and then run over by the truck.

Paleo died at the scene, according to the CHP.

The driver of the big rig, 40-year-old Jesus Figueroa of Norwalk, was uninjured, the CHP reported.

The right lane of the southbound 605 and the Peck Road on-ramps were closed while the collision was investigated.
