Closing arguments are expected to begin Tuesday in the trial of Wade Bughman, a Monrovia man accused of sexually abusing several children when he was a teacher at a Duarte elementary school.
A Pasadena Superior Court clerk said the prosecution will make its final arguments to a jury Tuesday in the case that began in October and has dragged on for more than a month.
Bughman, a former teacher at Beardlee Elementary School in Duarte, is charged with 9 sexual assault counts including rape for allegedly abusing five different students from 1997 to 2010.
Bughman was arrested in June 2010 after several students came forward and accused him of abuse. He was placed on leave in April 2010 by the Duarte Unifed School District after administrators were alerted to the alleged abuse by responses in a school survey.
