Elderly Man Struck, Killed by Truck at Traffic Light That was Out

The crash occurred in Arcadia on Wednesday night during a brief power outage.

A man in his 70s crossing Huntington Drive in Arcadia was struck by a pickup truck and killed Wednesday night, while a second man in his 70s suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The traffic lights controlling the intersection the men were struck were not working at the time because of a brief power outage, Arcadia Police Department Lt. Tom Cullen said.

The men were struck at the intersection of Huntington Drive and the Gate 1 exit from the Westfield shopping mall and the Santa Anita racetrack at 9:15 p.m., Cullen said.
