FBI Assisting Monrovia PD and Other Agencies with Hoax Threat Investigation

In the past week, Santa Fe Middle School, Arcadia High, two medical facilities in West Covina, along with two schools in Duarte have had gun threats.

The FBI is working with the Monrovia Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies to investigate a string of hoax gun threats.

On Monday, a call from a man who said he was on the campus of Santa Fe Middle School with an AK-47 and planned to shoot people, prompted a lockdown. A similar call around that same time also resulted in lockdowns at two West Covina medical facilities.

On Tuesday, another call led to lockdowns at Northview Intermediate School and adjacent Duarte High School, both located on the same campus. Again on Thursday, the Arcadia Police Department put Arcadia High on lockdown after the receiving a similar gun threat.

All of the calls turned out to be hoaxes.

Ari Dekofsky, an FBI spokeswoman confirmed that the FBI is working with local law enforcement agencies on the investigation.

"The FBI is part of a coordinated effort among the affected juriscictions and their police departments to find the person or persons responsible for the hoax calls," she said. "We are providing assistance as requested with various resources."
