A man attempted to lure a Monrovia 15-year-old into his vehicle by offering her $200 cash and police are investigating whether the suspect is the same man who tried to lure a teenager into his car earlier this month.
The girl was walking to school in the 500-600 block of East Olive Avenue at about 8:10 a.m. when the suspect approached in his white pickup and asked her to get in, according to a Monrovia Police Department news release.
The girl refused, so he pulled his car up further, turned onto the 600 block of Monterey Avenue, and waited for her to approach, according to police.
"As the student approached the vehicle again, the driver offered the student $200 to get into his vehicle," the release states. "The student refused, and the suspect left the area."
The girl notified school officials as soon as she arrived on campus, according to police.
The incident is very similar to an incident on Nov. 8 when a 14-year-old student reported that she was approached by a man in a silver car who offered her $200 to get inside.
"It is unknown if this is related to the incident which occurred on November 8, but detectives are investigating and are coordinating their investigation with school officials," the release states.
