Man Found in Burned Azusa Home Identified

A man found after firefighters extinguished a house fire in Azusa Thursday was identified by the coroner’s office, but the bodies of the two women also found at the scene have not yet been positively identified.

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office identified the man as George Edward Alva, 53, of Azusa. Police confirmed that all three were shot. According to Azusa Police, there are “no outstanding suspects,” but would not confirm if the deaths were the result of murder-suicide. The coroner’s office did not issue the cause of death of the three, but police indicated that the three had gunshot wounds to the upper body. The other two women were also described to be in their 50s.

Los Angeles County firefighter responded to the burning house at 525 N. Dalton Avenue at around 2:45 p.m. Thursday. As the fire burned, noises of ammunition burning off in the garage were heard. After the fire was extinguished, authorities found the three bodies, along with numerous firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

Two dogs and two cats were also found dead at the scene. The case is currently under investigation.
