Man Shot in the Face in Duarte

There was no indication that the shooting was gang-related, although it remains under investigation.

A man suffered a grazing wound to the face in an unincorporated area just outside of Duarte, a sheriff's lieutenant said Sunday.

The shooting occurred at 11:10 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Broderick Avenue and Beckville Street in an unincorporated area near Duarte, Irwindale and Monrovia, said Lt. Phillip Marquez of the Temple Sheriff's Station.

The man in his mid-40s suffered a grazing wound to his "head and face area," and was talking when transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital, Marquez said.

There was no suspect information, he said. There was no indication that the shooting was gang-related, although it remains under investigation.
