UPDATE: Manhunt Ensues After Suspect Runs During Traffic Stop

Police pulled over a car on Foothill Boulevard Friday night and the driver got out and started running.

Monrovia Police called in a helicopter to aid in the search for a man who ran away from police after he was pulled over in a traffic stop Friday night.

Police stopped the car for a vehicle code violation near the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Shamrock Avenue before 9 p.m., according to Monrovia Police Sgt. Tom Loy.

The suspect then got out of the car and ran, Loy said. After an extensive search of the area, police were unable to locate him.

Two women were in the car but they refused to tell officers who the man was, Loy said.

"They were not being cooperative," Loy said, noting that officers could not compel the women to be forthcoming. "We can't charge them for not telling us who he is."

The car belongs to one of the women, a Glendora resident, he said.

Witnesses said on Facebook that they saw police officers with their guns drawn and pointed at the stopped vehicle.
