UPDATE: Missing Man Found in Apparent Suicide

Mark Allen Craychee was found hanged. Police have deemed his death a suicide. Members of the Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Team helped in his search.

Authorities found Arcadia resident Mark Allen Craychee hanged Friday in an apparent suicide.

Family members reported Craychee, 55, missing. He has a history of psychological issues, and they feared he could be suicidal; he had attempted suicide in February.

Shortly after 7 a.m. on Friday, authorities located Craychee’s vehicle parked and unoccupied in a turnout along Santa Anita Canyon Road. Steep embankments lined the roadway both above and below the turnout.

Members of the assisted in the search. At about 9:30 a.m., rescuers recovered Craychee's body; he had hanged himself in a tree about 150 yards from his vehicle.

The Los Angeles County Coroner arrived on scene to remove the remains and the family was notified.
