Monrovia Man Arrested on Suspicion of Murder

A Monrovia man has been arrested on suspicion of killing Altadena resident Edward Santana on Dec. 27.

The Pasadena Police Department has arrested a suspect for the murder of an Altadena man that happened in Pasadena in December.

Chauncy Hollis, 41, of Monrovia, was arrested last Friday by the Pasadena Police Department on suspicion of shooting and killing Edward Santana of Altadena.

Santana's body was found in the yard of a home near the intersection of Marengo and Dearborn in Pasadena on Dec. 27.

Media reports at the time suggested that Santana was found with a lock cutter on him.

Though nobody witnessed the shooting, a witness did give police information about a vehicle leaving the scene of the crime around the time of the shooting.

Hollis was pulled over in East Pasadena on May 18 after he was spotted by members of the department's Criminal Investigation Section. He had been linked to the scene of the crime by information given to detectives.

There was another warrant out for Hollis' arrest and he was taken into custody without incident after being pulled over.

Detectives are presenting the case to the District Attorney's Office, which will decide whether or not to file charges against Hollis for the murder.
